The Friends of the Hudson Area Library are celebrating “Love Your Library” month with their “Buy a Heart” program at the Library. Patrons and book lovers can purchase a paper heart for a donation of any amount and inscribe it with their personal statement of why they love the library or what the Library means to them. The hearts will then be placed throughout the Library for all to view.
Now in its thirteenth year, The Friends assist the Hudson Area Library through many fundraising programs in order to purchase new books and multimedia and for valuable programs that would not otherwise be available to the community. Each paper heart purchased will enable the Friends to continue to contribute new books, movies, and other media to the Library’s growing collection. These contributions help increase access to media for the hundreds of community members who visit the Library each and every week. Anyone can play an important role in this ongoing mission and support the Library!
The Friends boasts more than 200 members who contribute annually to the Friends’ mission. Dedicated and energetic volunteers raise funds and awareness for the Library by participating in and supporting local community events, plus the twice monthly book sales in the Book Sale Room. Monies raised through these many efforts have enabled them to purchase many new books, DVDs and other media, supplies for the History Room, books and craft materials for the Children’s Room and the renovation of the Book Sale Room. In addition, they have been able to fund interesting and relevant guest speakers and special programming for the Library.
The Friends look forward to seeing everyone at the Library this month! So have a heart— buy a heart!
