Please join the Hudson Area Library on Saturday, October 26th at 1:00pm in the History Room for a presentation with rare book collector A. DeForest. Sponsored by the Hudson Area Library History Room Committee, the realm of collecting rare and historic books, manuscripts, and maps will be discussed in this fascinating presentation.
Hear DeForest’s views of researching and purchasing unusual items for a private collection, as well as personal stories of the pieces he has bought and sold over the last two decades. An interesting and varied selection of his personal collection will be on display, and will include books of history, travel, Irish folklore, Celtic mythology and fairy tales, several distinctive maps, as well as a rare print of James Joyce. Works from the 1600’s, as well as rare, limited edition books from modern day publications will be included in this presentation.
Don’t miss this unique opportunity to view a portion of this extensive collection and hear the behind-the-scenes stories that go along with them. A brief question and answer session will follow the presentation.
