Winter Hack: Video Production & Art Photography

Program Description: We are happy to announce open registration for the library’s second iteration of Winter Hack, a digital art media camp that runs during the school winter recess. Digital art is a medium that uses digital technology to create works of art. Participants will learn how to use the differing programs necessary to construct, share and maximize ideas culminating in a collaborative session in which participants will create their own work on site at the Hudson Area Library.

These labs encompass video and images made for but not limited to digital distribution. Join filmmaker and music video director Zia Anger and photographer Yulia Zinshtein to create photography, gifs and video using open source or free software. Winter Hack is an abridged version of the library’s successful digital art summer program Hack The Library!.

Date/ Time: Tuesday, February 19- Friday, February 22, 10-3pm

Suggested Age: Tweens and Teens (8-17 years old)

Zia Anger is a filmmaker and music video director. Her most recent short MY LAST FILM premiered at the 53rd New York Film Festival. In 2015 her short I REMEMBER NOTHING had its world premiere at New Directors/New Films and its international premiere at Festival del film Locarno and has shown at other film festivals throughout the world. She has made music videos for various independent artists including: Angel Olsen, Mitski, Julianna Barwick, Maggie Rogers, and Jenny Hval. Her music videos have been featured in various online publications including: Pitchfork, the Guardian, and NPR.

Yulia Zinshtein born 1990 in Philadelphia to Ukrainian parents, Zinshtein relocated to Moscow at the age of 10. Photographing people she felt connected to was a way to make something permanent in a life full of temporary arrangements. Yulia graduated from SVA in 2015 with a BFA in photography. She has been published in magazines like Dazed Digital, Editorial Magazine and had work shown during Planned Parenthood Gala in 2017. Yulia has recently relocated to Hudson, New York.
