Friends of the Hudson Area Library Writers Luncheon with Emily Sachar

Program Description: Award-winning writer Emily Sachar, founder of the Hudson Valley Memoir Collective, will be the guest speaker at a buffet luncheon sponsored by the Friends of the Hudson Area Library.

Sachar is the author of the Pulitzer Prize-nominated memoir. Shut up and Let the Lady Teach (Simon and Schuster) which describes in vivid detail Sachar’s experience teaching math in a challenged Brooklyn, NY public school. Emily Sachar has also written widely for national magazines, and was a reporter for 13 years at Newsday.  She is a consulting historian and curriculum specialist at Olana, and the founder of the Hudson Valley Memoir Collective, which leads writing courses for adults 55 and older.

Founded in 1999, the Friends of the Hudson Area Library contributes to library collections, programming and additional needs of the library.  Proceeds from the luncheon will benefit library programs and services.
