পরবর্তী বিজ্ঞপ্তি না হওয়া পর্যন্ত লাইব্রেরি বন্ধ থাকে: COVID-19 সম্পর্কিত তথ্য
La biblioteca está cerrada hasta nuevo aviso

Out of concern for the well-being of our community, the Hudson Area Library will be closed until further notice. All in-person library programs, classes, group meetings, and events are also suspended during this time.

While our doors are closed, we are still here for you! Our library team is working to bring engaging and educational opportunities to our community by providing virtual programming and access to online resources. Library staff are also available for assistance via email and phone.

Patrons are encouraged to hold on to any materials that they have borrowed from our library until we are back in service. We will waive any overdue fines that accrue during this time. The Mid-Hudson Library System has suspended all holds and deliveries between libraries during this time. Patrons who have requested materials from other libraries will have those holds filled once the Mid-Hudson Library System resumes deliveries.

We will provide updates, including announcements of our schedule and plan for reopening, on this website and our social media pages.

March 15, 2020 Update Concerning COVID-19

Out of concern for the well-being of our community, the Hudson Area Library will be closed from Wednesday, March 18 through the end of the month. All Hudson Area Library programs, classes, group meetings, and events are also suspended during this time.

Social distancing is suggested as an important step to prevent the spread of COVID-19 and we must do our part to keep our community healthy. We will reassess the situation towards the end of March to determine the status of open hours and programs for April. All updated communications will be posted on our website, Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter.

Patrons are encouraged to hold on to any materials that they have borrowed from our library until we are back in service. We will waive any overdue fines that accrue during this time.

Please take advantage of our online resources: OverDrive for ebooks and e-audio, RBdigital for e-magazines, Kanopy for film streaming, Universal Class for online courses, and Mango for language learning. Email reference@hudsonarealibrary.org if you have any questions about how to access these online resources and we will be in touch as soon as possible.

We have increased our daily cleaning protocols (with a focus on disinfecting high traffic areas such as computer terminals, service desks, door knobs, light switches, and children’s toys) and have temporarily reduced the access to toys and other hard to clean items in the children’s area. We have packets of information from the Center for Disease Control (CDC) available at our main desk and informational signs from the CDC are posted throughout the space. Additional informational resources about COVID-19 can be found below.

The Columbia County Department of Health statement from March 6 reminds us all that we can help stop COVID-19 by knowing the signs and symptoms, and doing simple things to keep ourselves and others healthy. They suggest the following precautionary measures:
– avoid close contact with people who are sick
– avoid touching eyes, nose, and mouth
– wash hands with soap and water for at least 20 seconds
– clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces

In addition, the CDC suggests:
– covering your cough or sneeze with a tissue and then discarding the tissue
– stay home when you are sick except to get medical care

The New York State Department of Health has established a hotline for questions about COVID-19 which can be accessed by calling 888-364-3065.

If you think you have been exposed to COVID-19 and develop a fever and symptoms, such as cough or difficulty breathing, the CDC recommends that you call your healthcare provider for medical advice.
