Jump to the Head of the Waiting List and Put More Books on the Shelves
The Hudson Area Library offers the Adopt a Book program so that our patrons can be the first in line to read our newest books. It also gives you the chance to help support the library’s collection development.
All that you need to do is pick out a book that you want the library to have or select from the list of books that are available for adoption. When the book comes in, with a donation of $15, you will be the first to read it! The book will also have a bookplate in it, honoring your donation. This program has been a very beneficial program for the library and avid readers alike. It gives patrons a chance to jump ahead of the waiting list for high demand books from authors like James Patterson or Janet Evanovich and it helps the library purchase more books than it otherwise would be able to.
Contact the Library staff to learn more about this program or to adopt a book!
We have several regular Adopt A Book program participants. In addition, The Hudson Book Group has made a commitment to adopt a book from the library at least four times a year. Formed two years ago, the group is made up of some 15 members who live in the Hudson area and meet once a month to discuss books. Being aware of the library’s Adopt-A-Book program, the group realized that a $1 contribution from each member four times a year would mean four new books for the library. The director of the library suggested that the young adult section was in need of more books, so that is where the group’s donations will go.
“We’ve already got enough money to adopt two books right from the start,” said one member, “so I think we’ll well exceed our goal of four books a year. This is so easy to do. Moreover, it helps a worthy cause and makes all of us feel good.”
The following books are on order and available for adoption! Please think of this as a starter list – additional books would also love a new home here at the Hudson Area Library!
