Promise Family Day at the Hudson Area Library

This Saturday, September 16, 1-2:30pm Greater Hudson Promise Neighborhood and the library will sponsor, Promise Family Day, at the library. This event will include book readings and activities with Kathy Mabb, facilitator of our High Five! program for families with children birth to 5 years old; apple cider and doughnuts; and book and school supply giveaways. All families with children in the birth to five age range are welcome to attend and can bring older children as well.

Families can also register for High Five! during this event. High Five!: Talking, Singing, Reading, Writing, Playing with Your Child is an early literacy family program that will begin Sat., Oct. 7. Donate School Supplies for Hudson Kids

The library is collecting school supplies for the children of Hudson who need them. Bring paper, pencils, pens, notebooks, crayons, colored pencils, three-ring binders, highlighters, folders, backpacks and other supplies to the library and drop them off at the box near the main desk. All supplies will be distributed on September 16. Thank you for your generosity!

Back to School Fun Night

Kids Break WeekJoin Ms. Pam in the Children’s Room on Tuesday, September 1 from 6-7pm for Back to School Fun Night! Come on in and get excited for the start of the new school year. There will be stories for the elementary set and students of all ages can decorate goal posters with ideas they have for making the 2015-2016 year the best yet. There will be a bookmark making station where kids can create their own bookmark to save their place in all those great books they will be reading this year. We’ll also have book giveaways and other fun activities to help get kids excited for the coming school year.

Back To School Book Sale!

photoThis Saturday, August 23 and next, August 30th, the Friends are offering a special Back To School Book Sale from 10am-1pm. A perfect opportunity for teachers, parents, and of course, kids, to stock up on fun books for reading and learning!

Now that summer is almost over and the kids will be going back to school, books for classrooms and home bookshelves need to be replenished and the Book Sale Room has something for everyone, from toddlers to teens.

All kids books are specially priced to encourage reading throughout the year. There are thousands of titles to choose from, including picture books, early reader books, non-fiction books, chapter books and a large selection of young adult titles as well. Within those categories are a variety of topics, including adventure, classics, fairy tales, fantasy, fiction, history, humor, nature, science, sports, and much more in many formats–board books for the little ones, hardcovers and paperbacks, as well as a large selection of kids movies and music too!
