Core Strength & Balance: Register for Spring Classes!

We are continuing to offer the popular beginning and intermediate classes of “Senior Fitness: Core Strength & Balance with Paul Spector,” in series of four classes each throughout 2018. All classes will be on Saturdays, 1:30-2:30pm. February and March classes are filled; if you wish to register for April or May classes please do so  as soon as possible.

Second intermediate: April 7, 14, 21 & 28
Third beginner: May  5, 12, 19 & 26

Core Strength & Balance introduces exercises that improve postural stability, core strength, spatial body awareness, sensory integration, agility and coordination. The class size has a cap of 12 to allow greater flexibility in addressing the needs of each participant. After completing the series of four sessions, the individual will have mastered a balance routine that they can continue independently at home. Intermediate students, who have taken the beginner class, will receive some further exercises.   Continue reading

Balance Workshop for Seniors

We are pleased to collaborate with the City of Hudson Senior Center for the first in a Healthy Living series, “Balance Workshop for Seniors”, Wednesday, April 12, 5 – 6:30pm in the Senior Center; which is wheelchair accessible.

Balance is an essential part of all movement, at every level: dance, athletics, biking, boating, hiking, and plain old walking. Like all other capacities, the “use it or lose it” maxim holds true for balance. There are many reasons why our balance deteriorates with age. But the principal cause is lifestyle. Most adults don’t do much to challenge their balance skills. So those skills atrophy.
