In order to make room for new inventory, the Friends Book Sale Room will feature hundreds of great books in a special discount sale this Saturday! All fiction books (both hard and softcover) will be buy one/ get one free (that’s 2 for $1) and all paperback books (mass market) will be 3 for $1. The shelves are packed with hundreds of great authors and subjects, so stock up now for plentiful spring reading!

In addition to all the great fiction books, there are thousands of titles in over forty categories to choose from in the Book Sale Room. Books on art, travel, gardening, cooking, photography, poetry, memoir, history, classics, humor, large print, mystery, sports and more are all here…our inventory is the largest in the area! Hundreds of children’s books for all reading levels are also available. Movies, audio books and music also available at discounted prices.

Books make great gifts, and you can be sure to find something for everyone at this sale.

Colossal Cook Book Sale

The Friends of the Hudson Area Library will be offering over 500 great cookbooks at the “Colossal Cook Book Sale” on Friday, April 26th from 1-4pm, and Saturday, April 27th from 10-2pm. This large and eclectic collection of vintage, new, and used cookbooks will be on the shelves in the Book Sale Room at the Hudson Area Library, 400 State Street in Hudson. All books will be offered at discounted prices.

Included in this large selection are quick and easy meals, baking, barbeque and grilling, gourmet, entertaining and menu guides as well as many ethnic cuisines. Cookbooks make great gifts too, whether it’s for the serious food lover or the occasional cook – you’ll be sure to find something for everyone at this great sale!

Special guest, cookbook author, columnist and professional caterer, Susan Simon will be on hand to answer all of your cooking, recipe and ingredients questions on Saturday, from 11-1:00pm. Susan has written five cookbooks and currently writes a food column for the Register Star titled “Susan Simon Says: Food for Thought”.

The Friends of the Library’s Book Sale Room is open every Saturday from 10am-1pm! The Book Sale Room holds thousands of books on a myriad of subjects, including cooking, art, travel, gardening, autobiography, classics, fiction, humor, mystery, business, politics, health, science and more. Premium magazines, audiobooks and VHS tapes are also available for purchase at discounted prices.

The Friends welcome your donation of gently-used books and other media throughout the year. Please, no encyclopedias, trade journals or damaged items. Textbooks published before 2000 cannot be accepted. Please call the library in advance of donating at 518.828.1792 to arrange a drop-off time Tuesdays through Saturdays.

Arts Walk Weekend with the Friends of the Hudson Area Library!

The Friends of the Hudson Area Library announces its special two-day Art Book Sale to be held on Friday, October 5th and Saturday, October 6th. This unique sale will take place at the Hudson Area Library Book Sale Room on Friday from 1pm until 4pm, and on Saturday from 10am until 3pm. The sale features a large selection of both hard and soft cover books on art, graphic design, photography, industrial design, architecture, and interior design, as well as many books on art history, artist’s monographs, crafts, techniques and artists biographies. All books will be offered at low discount prices for this special sale. Art books also make great gifts for the artists or enthusiasts on your holiday list, so be sure to not miss this wonderful opportunity to purchase great books at great prices!

Also this weekend, check out “Open Book, an Open Photographic Exhibition”, on exhibit at the Library during open hours. Presented by the Friends of the Hudson Area Library and the Columbia County Photo Club, this exhibit features the work of sixteen members of the Columbia County Photo Club. Among the exhibited photographs are landscapes, flora, book studies and other still lifes by: Paul Abitabile, Bridget Arnold, C.C.Bailey, Ken Bovat, Ralph Gargone, J. Pierre Gontier, Deirdre Haber Malfatto, Thomas Holleufer, Joan Lezette-Miller, Peter Marotta, Marie (Beth) Meehan, Daniel Region, Vel Riberto, Doug Stalker, Sarah Sterling and Patricia Williams. The photographs are located in the computer room on the first floor of the library and along the hallway of the second floor of the library. All photographs are for individual purchase at the Library and a portion of the proceeds will benefit the Friends of the Hudson Area Library. For more information click here.

This weekend there will also be a special cook book sale at the Chili Cook-off at the Hudson Waterfront Park Saturday, October 6th from 11 to 4pm. This one-time only event will offer a large and eclectic collection of vintage, new and gently-used cookbooks in many categories, including gourmet, children’s, quick meals and menus, as well as books on fall and winter dishes, holiday entertaining and more. The Friends of the Hudson Area Library has a book for every person on your gift list this holiday season! One of Hudson’s best kept secrets, the Book Sale Room is now offering a large selection of specialty and newly released books at discounted prices, ideal for gift giving. A great place to browse, the Sale Room has thousands of books to choose from in categories including art, fiction, humor, mystery, health, poetry, cooking, and many more. Plus, thousands of children’s books are offered at super discounted prices for every level of reader. Wacky Wednesdays Become a Book Sale Bonanza!

The Friends of the Hudson Area Library announces its special August schedule for selling their huge collection of discounted children’s books in the always popular Book Sale Room at the Library.

Special pricing of Buy-One-Get-One Free will apply to all children’s books in every category (regularly priced at .50 each). These prices are too good to be true, so stock up now! This is a great opportunity to encourage summer reading and for a child in your life to experience the joy of books for a lifelong reward.

Wacky Wednesdays will begin August 10 and continue every Wednesday in August. The newly refurbished Book Sale Room will be open from 9am until noon and has a fantastic selection of kids’ books for every level of reader. Thousands of books are now available, including large and small picture books, talking books, early reading books, non-fiction books, chapter books and books for young adults. There is also a large selection of kids’ VCR tapes available as part of the sale. And, kids’ books make great gifts as well — you will surely find something for every reader on your list, from infants to teens.
