Program Description: Registration is now open for the library’s youth winter recess programs!

WINTER HACK: Video Poetry with Jive Poetic
Winter Hack is a digital arts media camp for tweens and teens, taught by practicing artists. This session, youth participants will have the opportunity to take a writing workshop with poet and educator Jive Poetic. Participants will create video poems, taking language into image, using their original poems to make videos. These poems will be published on the library YouTube channel and be on display at the library. Poet Mahogany L. Browne guest curates this year’s Winter Hack session.

DIBS: Streetwear Design with Bergen Hendrickson
Local artisan Bergen Hendrickson (Big Ant) will work with participants to create their own unique designs for caps, shirts, and patches. DIBS, or Do It Better Series is a series of workshops that pairs participants with an expert in a particular field to help define, refine and explore in a judgement-free zone. This program is sponsored by HAL TAC (Hudson Area Library Tween Advisory Council).

Date/Time: Tuesday-Thursday, February 18-20, 10am-3pm

Suggested Audience: Tweens and Teens (8-15)

Hudson Area Library at Basilica Farm & Flea

Program Description: The library will be tabling and selling merchandise to fund raise for the History Room and the Tween Advisory Council at this year’s Basilica Farm & Flea. We are also excited to be providing a special Story Time with Pamela Badila, master storyteller and facilitator of our 1st and 3rd Saturday Story & Craft Hour, will be regaling children and families with folktales, crafts and activities!

Date/Time: Friday, November 29, 12-7pm – Saturday, November 31 & Sunday, December 1, 10am-5pm.

Sunday Story & Craft Hour, 11-11:30am & 1-1:30pm at Basilica Hudson, 110 S. Front St. Hudson, New York

Dungeons & Dragons Club

Program Description: HAL TAC (Hudson Area Library Tween Advisory Council) is happy to announce the formation of a Dungeons & Dragons Club run by members of the council. Dungeons & Dragons is a fantasy tabletop role-playing game where participants are invited to create their own characters and explore fantastical kingdoms and realms, taking in adventures along the way. This club is for the curious and mildly-experienced. Ages 8-15 are welcome.

Date/Time: 1st Saturdays of the Month beginning Saturday, November 2, 12-2pm

HAL TAC Movie Matinee

Program Description: It’s a half day of school! HAL TAC (Hudson Area Library Tween Advisory Council) will be hosting a special version of their on-going Movie Matinee Series. This month’s feature is 2019’s Pokémon Detective Pikachu. Detective Pikachu tells the story of a world where people collect Pokémon to do battle, a boy comes across an intelligent talking Pikachu who seeks to be a detective.

Date/ Time: Thursday, November 14, 12:30-3pm

Registration/Suggested Audience: This movie is open to tweens, teens and families and is held as part of the Council’s ongoing Saturday Movie Matinee series. As usual for matinees there will be raffle prizes and free popcorn.
