The library and the Hudson Farmers’ Market are pleased to announce a series of Story Times On-the-Go this fall at the market. Librarians, staff and board members of the library will be reading to children in the children’s tent area 11am – 12pm on September 9, 23, October 7, 21 and November 4. There will also be giveaways and some story time hours will include craft activities. So bring your kids for healthy eating and fun reading at the Hudson Farmers’ Market!

The Hudson Farmers’ Market provides products and seasonal produce from growers and producers. It is the largest farmers’ market in Columbia County and has been in existence for over 18 years.

Great books celebrating the area’s bounties of the season, on a wide range of topics, will be offered for sale Saturday, August 29 from 9:30am-1pm. The last cookbook sale of the season at the Hudson Farmers Market will be on Saturday, September 6, from 9:30-1pm. Included in this sale are cookbooks celebrating the bounties of the season—everything from apples to zucchini! With hundreds of cookbooks on a wide range of topics, you’ll be sure to find a book (or two!) with recipes and ideas to whet your appetite. So come browse the selection of new, used and vintage cookbooks on Saturday and start cooking!
Back by popular demand— the Friends of the Hudson Area Library Cook Book Sale is coming to the Hudson Farmer’s Market on Saturday, August 9th from 9:30 til 1pm.
Whether you’re looking to expand your kitchen’s library, improve your skills, or just try out some new recipes with great fresh ingredients, this special sale will offer an eclectic collection of vintage, new, and used cook books in many categories. Included will be titles for gourmet, quick meals and menus, summer barbecues and grilling, entertaining and ethnic cuisines. There will be hundreds of titles and food groups to choose from, including appetizers, salads, meats, seafood, vegetables, desserts and more! All books will be offered at very low discount prices for this mouth-watering sale.
In a continued effort to spread the word about fund raising efforts, this coming Saturday, June 28th, the Campaign for the Hudson Area Library will host a table at the Hudson Farmer’s Market. Representatives will be using the opportunity to discuss the new library with customers who regularly attend the market.
There will also be a raffle to give away bundled books, audio books, graphic novels and galleys for all age levels. Several of the offerings have been on display at the library for the past two weeks. A sampling includes Who Could That Be at This Hour? by Lemony Snicket, Leaving Time by Jodi Picoult, Avalon High: Volume 1 –The Merlin Prophecy by Meg Cabot, The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins and the audio book Danny the Champion of the World by Roald Dahl.
“We want to reach out to as many people as possible,” says Theresa Parsons, Co-chair for the Campaign. “The new library will be a major community center. The more people who know about all that we have planned, the better. And, of course, we continue to seek donations and the support of the public.

The Hudson Area Library’s Storytime on the Go will visit the Hudson Farmers Market this Saturday from 9AM – 1PM. Join us this free event, which will include stories about nature and animals, songs, and puppetry.
Storytime on the Go is a mobile early literacy effort aimed at encouraging opportunities for parents and caregivers to read to their babies, toddlers, and young children. The event is best suited for children ages 0-5 and their families. Free board books will be available for participants to take home.
Storytime on the Go is made possible by the Hudson Area Library’s Kids First Initiative with grant support from the Berkshire Taconic Community Foundation’s Fund for Columbia County.
