Kanopy – video streaming service!

The popular on-demand film streaming service Kanopy is now available for all library cardholders in Columbia County. Kanopy showcases more than 30,000 of the world’s best films, including award-winning documentaries, rare and hard-to-find titles, film festival favorites, indie and classic films, and world cinema.

Access Kanopy via columbiacountyny.kanopy.com and sign up to start streaming films. Films can be streamed from any computer, television, mobile device or platform by downloading the Kanopy app for iOS, Android, AppleTV, Chromecast or Roku. Each cardholder has 10 play credits per month and unlimited viewing of Great Courses and Kanopy Kids. More information on how play credits works can be found on the Kanopy website.

Take Your Child to the Library Day, Saturday, February 1st

Take Your Child to the Library Day was started by a Connecticut children’s librarian in 2012 and this year will include more than 350 libraries. Join us for this special event on Saturday, February 1st from 10am-3pm and check out everything the Hudson Area Library has to offer children and families: books, movies, crafts, games, homework help, special events, and a safe, welcoming place to spend time together.

New Summer DVDs!

The Friends are pleased to announce the addition of eleven newly released movies this summer, now available on our library shelves. Included in this new selection are the following titles: The Call, starring Halle Berry; The Host, adapted from the book by Stephenie Meyer; Quartet, directed by Dustin Hoffman and starring Maggie Smith; Venus and Serena, a documentary film about the Williams sisters; Boy, a coming of age film set in New Zealand; No, an Academy Award-nominated Spanish language film; and Jack Reacher, starring Tom Cruise based on the popular book series by Lee Child. Coming this month will be four new films, including Baz Luhrmann’s The Great Gatsby; Academy Award winner for Best Foreign Film, Amour; The Sapphires, and The Place Beyond the Pines, a drama filmed in Schenectady starring Ryan Gosling, Bradley Cooper and Eve Mendes.
