Music in the Stacks with Harmony Project Hudson

Program Description: The second concert in our five 2019 Music in the Stacks series features Harmony Project Hudson. We are very excited to be featuring both the students and instructors playing pop, rock and jazz. Performances will be with violin, cello, recorder and accordion. And, our very own Hudson Area Library Tween Advisory Council will be the youth group hosting the concert.

Music In The Stacks: Moyna

Program Description: We are pleased to announce that modern and traditional Bangladeshi musical group, Moyna, is performing in our 2019 Music In The Stacks concert series. This concert is curated by the Bangladeshi American Society of Hudson and emceed by Hudson Muslim Youth. A short q&a and refreshments will be available after the concert.

POSTPONED: Music in the Stacks: Experimental Musician Patrick Higgins

Due to circumstances beyond our control, the Patrick Higgins concert scheduled for Sunday, March 24 will need to be rescheduled. New date TBA.

Program Description:  We are pleased to announce Music in the Stacks, which features five one-hour Sunday afternoon concerts performed in the library throughout 2019 and hosted by Hudson area youth. These concerts, in the main area of the library, reflect a wide range of musical styles, genres, instruments and cultures. Audience members will receive cultural passports, which will be stamped at each concert. Attendance at all five makes them eligible to win a gift certificate to a Hudson music venue.

The first concert begins with Patrick Higgins, an experimental music composer and is hosted by Operation Unite NY youth. Higgins has been described by The New Yorker magazine as one of the “prime movers of the local avant-garde”, and an “exacting avant-classical guitarist by Time Out NY.

Music in the Stacks: A New Concert Series!

Program Description: We are pleased to announce Music in the Stacks, which features five one-hour  concerts performed in the library throughout 2019 and hosted by Hudson area youth. These concerts, in the main area of the library, reflect a wide range of musical styles, genres, instruments and cultures. Audience members receive cultural passports, which will be stamped at each concert. Attendance at all five makes them eligible to win a gift certificate to a Hudson music venue.

Dates/Time: All concerts are Sundays 4-5:30pm. 1) March 24 features Patrick Higgins, a Hudson based experimental music composer, hosted by Operation Unite NY youth. 2) A Bangla band headlined by Palbasha Siddique performs traditional and modern Bangladeshi music on April 28 in conjunction with the Bangladeshi New Year. This concert is curated by the Bangladeshi American Society of Hudson and hosted by Hudson Muslim Youth. 3) On May 19, we offer a Harmony Project Hudson student and instructor concert with a selection of pop, rock and jazz for violin, cello, recorder and accordion and hosted by members of the Hudson Area Library Tween Advisory Council. 4) The September 8 concert features NorthWinds, a bassoon ensemble, performing Celtic, jazz and blues pieces arranged for the bassoon, hosted by student members of the Hudson City School District’s Tri-M Music Honor Society. 5) TBA.

This project is made possible with funds from the Decentralization Program, a regrant program of the New York State Council on the Arts with the support of Governor Andrew M. Cuomo and the New York State Legislature and administered by the Greene County Council on the Arts.

Klezmer & Jazz Cabaret Benefit


Join us for a benefit cabaret, Klezmer and Jazz, on Saturday, June 10 from 6-8pm. The sounds of klezmer and jazz resounding in the magnificent main room of the Hudson Area Library will debut the library’s Music in the Stacks programming, a series being developed with Arts Chair Gwen Gould. The program will be performed by the musical group Two Worlds: Paul Green, clarinet; Ben Kohn, keyboard; and Richard Syracuse, string bass.

Tickets are $40 each and can be reserved via the button below or by calling 518-828-1792 x101. Wine and appetizers will be supplied by Ca’Mea Restaurant and attendees will have an opportunity to meet the artists.
