Music in the Stacks: A New Concert Series!

Program Description: We are pleased to announce Music in the Stacks, which features five one-hour  concerts performed in the library throughout 2019 and hosted by Hudson area youth. These concerts, in the main area of the library, reflect a wide range of musical styles, genres, instruments and cultures. Audience members receive cultural passports, which will be stamped at each concert. Attendance at all five makes them eligible to win a gift certificate to a Hudson music venue.

Dates/Time: All concerts are Sundays 4-5:30pm. 1) March 24 features Patrick Higgins, a Hudson based experimental music composer, hosted by Operation Unite NY youth. 2) A Bangla band headlined by Palbasha Siddique performs traditional and modern Bangladeshi music on April 28 in conjunction with the Bangladeshi New Year. This concert is curated by the Bangladeshi American Society of Hudson and hosted by Hudson Muslim Youth. 3) On May 19, we offer a Harmony Project Hudson student and instructor concert with a selection of pop, rock and jazz for violin, cello, recorder and accordion and hosted by members of the Hudson Area Library Tween Advisory Council. 4) The September 8 concert features NorthWinds, a bassoon ensemble, performing Celtic, jazz and blues pieces arranged for the bassoon, hosted by student members of the Hudson City School District’s Tri-M Music Honor Society. 5) TBA.
