Program Description: In collaboration with NYS DanceForce member Elena Mosley and Kuumba Dance & Drum we are pleased to present a three day tween performance and media program intensive: “Digital Dancing” with teaching artist, choreographer & dancer Adam  H Weinert. 

Digital Dancing consists of repertory and creative movement workshops integrated with Augmented Reality technology in the form of a mobile app created specifically for this project. Tween participants will choreograph, perform, and film a site specific dance for an Augmented Reality installation at the library.  Using an app, visitors to the library will have the opportunity to view the performance by aiming their own devices at particular locations in the library space where the dance was performed.

Date/Time: Tuesday,  Wednesday & Friday, September 24 , 25 & 27, 3:30-5:30pm. Performance Friday, September 27, 6pm.  Please note there is no workshop on Thursday.

Target Audience: Tweens

POSTPONED: Intergenerational Cooking with Chef Nicole LoBue

We have had to postpone this program due to unforeseen circumstances. Once a new date is set, we will update this web post and alert all registered participants.

Program Description: This class with local chef and educator Nicole Lobue will give the tween, teen and senior attendees an opportunity to interact as a community of learners and tasters of delicious food. Offered in partnership with the City of Hudson Senior Center and the City of Hudson Youth Department.

Location: Alimentary Kitchen at Basilica Hudson, 110 S. Front Street. Transportation will be provided to and from the library courtesy of the City of Hudson Youth Department.

Date/Time: Monday, August 27, 12:30-3:30pm

Hack The Library Shorts!

We were very pleased to host this year’s Hack The Library for an extended session of two days to a full week. This allowed us to split the participants in two groups: one for tweens + teens new to our hack program and an advanced workshop for returning HACK participants.

The advanced participants were given the full week to research in the library’s History Room with volunteer John Craig, write, shoot, score and edit their own short films around the History of 5th Street. They worked under the guidance of filmmakers Zia Anger and Theo Anthony. We are excited to present their video below

Spring Fashion Workshop

We are pleased to present a special three-day spring break workshop for tweens and teens on fashion! This program is offered in collaboration with local high fashion retailer Kasuri Hudson and local designer ENKYU. The program runs from Monday, April 2 to Wednesday, April 4, from 10-3pm. 

Does your child have any interest in fashion? Then, this is the workshop for them. This three-day intensive will cover a brief history of fashion and design, deconstruction and sewing that will culminate in a collaborative fashion collection under the guidance of local designer Enky Baryarsaikan (ENKYU) and Kasuri Creative Director Jonathan Osofsky. Local photographer and fashion merchant Tom Roeschlein (CMYLOOK) will help to create a look book and the pieces will be sold at Kasuri Hudson with proceeds going straight to the young designers themselves.

This program is free and open to the tweens and teens, who must register in advance. Space is limited and registration is on a first come/first serve basis. Lunch is provided.
