Volunteer Editor Needed – SEARCH IS NOW CLOSED
We are seeking a volunteer editor for the library’s website. This person will be responsible for creating and maintaining the editorial calendar of events and notices that will appear on the website. Working with library staff and other volunteers, the editor will manage the writing and photography required to complete the postings to the website. The Marketing Committee of the Board of Trustees of the Library and library staff will assist and provide oversight of the editor’s activities.
We expect that the editor will need to devote two to three hours per week to this role. Most of the work can be done from home. The Editor must have access to a Web-connected computer with a standard Web browser like Internet Explorer or FireFox. The editor role requires good writing and editing skills, good organizational and communications practices, and creativity in helping the library develop the website as a communications tool and another point of engagement with library patrons and others.
Computer skills required include text editing software such as Microsoft Word, Apple Pages, or OpenOffice.org. Training on using the library’s WordPress website platform will be provided. This will involve just a few hours and can be done remotely from the library. Image editing skills would be nice to have, but not required.
