The Friends of the Hudson Area Library will observe the Sixth Annual National Friends of the Libraries Week from October 16th through the 22nd. The Friends was established in 1999 to assist the Hudson Area Library, which serves the communities of Hudson and Greenport, in providing much-needed programs, books and other media to enhance library services.
The Friends encourage community members to support their efforts by participating in the “Buy a Leaf” program. For a small donation of any amount, community members will receive a leaf on which they can write a short statement about why they love the Library or what the Library means to them. The leaves will then be posted throughout the Library for all to view.
Each leaf purchased will enable the Friends to continue to acquire new books, movies, music, and other media – materials that otherwise would not appear in the Library’s collection and would not be available to hundreds of community members who visit the Library every week. Anyone in the community can play an important role in this ongoing mission and support the Library!
The Friends look forward to seeing everyone at the Library this week!
