On the Mid-Hudson Library System’s OverDrive Digital Downloads page you will now see a new link on the left-hand navigation bar, titled “Accessible eBooks”, giving patrons with print disabilities access to eBooks. The Library eBook Accessibility Program (LEAP) is a partnership between OverDrive and Bookshare.org. OverDrive’s role in the program is to fully fund one year of membership for our qualifying patrons. The link directs patrons to apply for a Bookshare membership from the OverDrive-powered site. The accessible books will be provided by Bookshare to patrons enrolled in LEAP, and include books in DAISY and Braille formats that can be read with computers, assistive reading devices, Braille printers, and MP3 players.
