The Hudson Valley region is an area of rich culture, beautiful scenery, and haunted history. On Thursday, October 24th at 5:15pm, author Lisa LaMonica will discuss her latest book, Haunted Catskills, at the Library.
Be haunted by the ghost of Maggie Houghtaling, who still lingers in the Register-Star building where she was wrongfully hanged for the death of her child in 1817. Get goose bumps when you hear the tale of a Native American woman who drowned herself in Claverack Creek after she was forbidden to be with the man she loved. Feel fright when you hear the tale of Peter Hallenbeck, who was murdered by his nephews in Greenport.
Hear these tales and more from the author, who was nominated for Arts Artist of the Year award in 2001. LaMonica is currently at work on Halloween Stories of the Hudson Valley.
Copies of her book will be available for purchase and signing.
