Calling All Kids to Participate in National Poetry Month by Reciting Your Favorite Poem!

The Friends of the Hudson Area Library proudly presents a Poetry Reciting Contest for Kids (ages 6 to 12) judged by local author, Rebecca Wolff. Rebecca Wolf is a published poet and editor for Fence Magazine and Fence Books. 

In continued support of children’s literacy, The Friends of the Hudson Area Library is supporting this event to further engage the local community in the appreciation of poetry. 

Presentations will be held Saturday April 26th at 1 PM at the Hudson Area Library with winners announced the same day. Prizes for 1st Place Winner and Runner-Up will be awarded based on Presence, Clarity, Drama, Understanding, and Accuracy. Participants should come prepared and rehearsed by choosing a great poem and making sure that the reading is no shorter than 90 seconds and no longer than 3 minutes. 

The Friends of the Hudson Area Library, which is underwriting the Reciting Contest, is an advocacy and support group dedicated to the increasing public awareness, literacy, and services of the Library. 

The Friends of the Hudson Area Library is a 501c(3) non-profit organization and proceeds from its fundraising go to the library for the acquisition of books and other media and for the development and delivery of the library’s services.
