This coming Saturday, October 11th, the Committee for the new Hudson Area Library will be serving their own chili – chock-full of secret ingredients – at the Hudson Valley Bounty Chili Fest. The event is held at Henry Hudson Waterfront Park from noon until 4pm. Admission is $5.00.
Ticket holders get to sample more than 20 different chilies and vote for their favorite. First, second and third place chili makers receive prizes of $500, $350 and $150 respectively. Please VOTE for ARMORY CHILI and help us take home the winning check for the new Hudson Area Library!
At the Chili Fest, secret recipes abound: super spicy, sweet and savory, vegetarian and hearty meat chili. There are chilies to appeal to every taste. The components of Armory Chili have been kept under wraps – with two exceptions. Cannellini beans have been prepared and donated by Philmont’s Local 111 Restaurant (a past entrant), and Grazin’ Angus Acres is supplying the beef short ribs. Sounds good, doesn’t it?
The event is held on the banks of the Hudson during one of Fall’s most beautiful weekends. Besides plenty of chili, there will be a beer tent and music. We’ll be lucky enough to have Ingrid Kildiss and Jeana Lazarra, two girls who are part of the Perfect Ten Afterschool Group, helping us to spread the word about the Library, it’s campaign and it’s delicious chili! Join us for this fun event! Volunteers at the table will also hand out information about the campaign for the new Library – scheduled to open in the Hudson Armory a year from now.
