Time for some inspiration! The organizing committee of Hudson Area Library’s Ghostly Gallop 5K will be presenting Verdigris’ Kim Bach with Bib #3 and honor her with the position of “lead walker” at this Sunday’s Ghostly Gallop.
Many of you may recognize Kim’s smile from seeing her at one of her two Verdigris shops in Catskill and Hudson. But, you may not know that she has just returned from a trek halfway across Spain ON FOOT!
Bach heard about a 500-mile pathway called the Camino de Santiago that begins in the French Pyrenees and continues across the entire length of Spain. It was forged during the Crusades in the 1100s and continues to draw “pilgrims” from around the world. Each takes on the challenge of walking the distance – some in a single 6-week dedicated effort, others in stages and still others in repeat walks over years and years. Kim met one couple who were on their 9th “Camino”.
Back in Hudson for only a few days, on Sunday, Kim will say a few inspiring words about her dedicated journey, then lead the GG participants on their 5K walk.
In case you’re wondering, Kim walked halfway – 250 miles. It took her 16 days and she loved every minute of the trip. She is planning on returning in the Spring to complete the sojourn.
Come to Hudson High School and join the walkers, or the runners, or just come to cheer on a local walking heroine. GG5K – This Sunday, October 22. Costume judging at 10:30. Kid’s Fun Run at 11am. GG5K walkers/runners at 11:30. More information at www.GhostlyGallop.info
