Spots Available in Junior High Tutoring Center

In collaboration with the Hudson Bluehawk Nation Afterschool Program we are providing a Junior High Tutoring Center for students in the Hudson City School District that meets at the library Tuesdays & Wednesdays 3:30-5:30pm.

There is still time to register your child for the remainder of the school year. Students receive support for their homework and classwork with a tutor coordinator, math tutor and volunteer tutors. The program strives to have as much one-on-one tutoring as possible. The tutor coordinator, Bernadette Martin, and math tutor, Mario Verna, communicate directly with the guidance counselor and teachers at the school coordinating on what students need to work on.

This program began last year as a pilot through a Berkshire Taconic grant and was quite successful academically and in helping students’ have more positive attitudes toward their work. It is being funded this year through an Extended School Day/School Violence Prevention Grant.

This center is for students who want extra help with their work, academic support for skills they are currently learning, or who need a place, with some structure, to make sure they get their work done. Parents should register their child for the tutoring center by emailing programs@hudsonarealibrary.org or calling 518.828.1792 x101.
