The New York Regional Census Center is running a Kids Census Art Contest! The contest is open to children and teens with entries to be judged by Age Group – Pre-K/Elementary (Group 1), Middle School (Group 2), and High School (Group 3). Each age group will have a county-wide winner and one overall contest winner! The Columbia County Libraries Association will serve as the Columbia County county-wide contest judge. We can’t wait to see your submissions!
How to participate:
- Conduct a census from your home! Choose a subject to count (e.g. animals, trees, flowers, books, toys, etc.)
- Create artwork to show us the census project – draw a conclusion.
- Scan or take a photo of your art project.
- E-mail it to firstname.lastname@example.org by June 26, 2020 (include the artist-enumerator’s name, school, county, and age group #).

Subject: Flower species in my yard
Count: 3 species in bloom
Observation: They can all tolerate cold weather
Art: Drawing of snow-covered flowers
Project Example 2
Subject: Books in my house
Count: 326 books
Observation: 120 are fiction and 206 are non-fiction books, 141 about nature, 45 about history, 20 about geology, 120 about superheroes
Art: Collage with subject/theme size based on quantity
