For this month’s Fix-It Picnic, our special guest will be Aki Goto—a video, sound, and installation artist from Japan, originally trained in textile art. Aki practices Sashiko, a traditional Japanese embroidery technique for reinforcing and decorating fabrics with patterns, and she will share her knowledge on how to use this technique for mending garments/fabrics. In this class, we will learn this simple technique and make our own one-of-a-kind napkins! Open to all ages and skill levels.
As usual, there will also be plenty of time to work on the sewing, t-shirt weaving, mending, or crafting projects of your choice. The LikeMindedObjects team will be on hand with supplies and tools to help develop your skills.
