Computer Sessions and Collections Browsing

As of September 14, you can schedule an appointment to use the public computers and to browse the collection. Here is what you need to know:

All pickups must be scheduled. Please only come to the library at your scheduled time. No drop-in visits are allowed at this time.

Study and reading areas, as well as our History Room and the children’s craft and play areas are not open to the public for use at this time.

We will book a limited number of appointments each day to allow for social distancing. Computer sessions will be booked in 45 minute blocks and browsing will be booked in 30 minute blocks.

Note: we will continue to offer our contactless materials pickup service for those who prefer to not enter the main library or the building.

Scheduling an appointment

  • Call 518-828-1792 or email holds@hudsonarealibrary.org to schedule an appointment.
  • When leaving a voicemail or sending an email, please include the following:
    • your name,
    • type of appointment (browsing or computer),
    • preferred appointment date and time.
  • If you are requesting an appointment by email or voicemail, please wait for confirmation of your appointment before heading to the library.

Safety

The safety of our community and our team is our top priority. A mask or face covering must be worn at all times while in the library and entranceways. We are booking limited appointments so that social distance of 6 feet can be maintained and computers can be properly cleaned between uses. Hand hygiene – hand washing or use of sanitizer – will also be required. All returned items will be quarantined for at least 72 hours before entering circulation and all staff members will wear masks and follow hand hygiene best practices while handling library materials and interacting with the public.

Returning Library Items

All items must be returned through the library book returns. All returned items will be quarantined for at least 72 hours, so don’t be alarmed if you see items still listed in your account in the few days after you return them. No fines will be charged during this time.

We will share updates as more in-person services become available. Our online resources are available year-round, including ebooks, audiobooks, e-music, streaming video, e-magazines, language learning, self-paced classes, employment resources, and language learning. We will continue to offer virtual programs and services, including story hours, job search help, and wellness programs.
