Administrative Assistant (part-time position)

We have an opening for a detail-oriented and tech-savvy Administrative Assistant to work in our busy library. The Administrative Assistant will provide administrative support to the Library Director and Program Director including assistance with donor, event, program and volunteer management, as well as room bookings, grant writing and data entry. The Administrative Assistant will report to the Library Director and coordinate with the Program Director, Chair of Fundraising Committee and other board and staff members as required. Tutor (part-time temporary position)

We have an opening for a part-time Tutor to work with students from the Hudson Junior High School in our Junior High Tutoring Center. The tutor will work with students one-on-one or in small groups. They will be required to keep a record of each day’s work with individual students, attend a training meeting as an introduction to the philosophy and pedagogy of the Hudson Area Library’s Junior High Tutoring Center, and assist with the hosting of an introductory/informational and concluding/celebratory session with students and their families. This is a part-time contract position for Tuesdays and Wednesdays two hours after school for 10 weeks at $25/hr. Anticipated start date: March 2019.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Familiarity with or knowledge of skills and content of junior high curriculum in Math and English.
  • Interest in working one-on-one with junior high students and motivating them to improve academically.
  • Experience working with youth.
  • NYS Teaching Certification is preferred but not required.
