In an effort to try and give area Moms an alternative to the standard “let’s-go-out-to-lunch” celebration, the NEW Hudson Area Library is presenting a Mother’s Day Fashion Show & Tea. The afternoon, held on Mother’s Day, May 8, begins at 2pm. There will be an assortment of home baked cakes and cookies for each ticket-holder to choose from. Tea, supplied by Verdigris-Hudson, will be available, too and background music is being mixed by Hudson’s own Young Paris. FACE Stockholm will be doing the make-up for the models as well as demonstrating some of their make-up tricks prior to the show.

“We hope to have a few of the models on stage as they get their make-up applied,” said Rosalie Hogan, representative from FACE Stockholm. “People always love to watch make-up artists. And, we have some young models who will be thrilled to have their make-up done by professionals.” FACE Stockholm will also have products available for sale.

The high-point of the day will be the fashion show utilizing vintage clothes supplied by Hudson retailer “Discipline Park”. Outfits cover several decades, but were selected and styled to be worn today. Shop owner Marlene Marshall worked with each model to make sure outfits were fun to wear and matched the personality of the individual. “This event is supposed to be fun,” she said. “You can style these pieces with leggings or scarves and they are just as wearable today as they were when they were new.”

In keeping with the Mother’s Day theme, some local models are Mother-daughter pairs. “I tried to relate the outfits somewhat,” Marshall added. “It was fun to see how the pairs commented on each other’s selections.”

The event is a fundraiser for the Library and will be held in the new Community Room at 51 North 5th Street. Tickets are $25.00 each. $10.00 for an accompanied Mom. They can be purchased in advance. Click here! Reservations are suggested.
