We’ll be teaming up with HATCH (Hudson Area Teaching Cooperative for Homeschoolers) this fall to offer fun, educational STEAM programs for youth ages 5 to 11 and 12 to 16. STEAM is an acronym for “Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, Math.” STEAM into Imagination will spark children’s curiosities as we ask questions about the emerging intersections of science, technology, engineering, art, and math.
The program will meet on Tuesdays from 4pm-5:30pm starting Tuesday, September 9 and continuing through Tuesday, December 16.
Older students will join the Programming Club where they’ll learn how to use computer coding and programming during a 12-session class with RPI Computer Science student, Rachel King.
Younger students will participate in two 6-session classes. HATCH co-founder, Will Pflaum, will offer a 6-session class called “Islands of the Imagination,” a creative investigation of geography, math, and drawing, in which students create their own fictional island. The second 6-session classes will again invite students to explore the arts and sciences through diverse experiments, painting and crafts, the use of a USB microscope and Snap Circuits, and more!
STEAM into Imagination is geared toward homeschooling families, kids in school, and anyone considering homeschooling or looking for more choice in education.
To register your child or teen, come to our registration party on Tuesday, September 9 at the library. For more information, call the library at 518-828-1792.
STEAM into Imagination is made possible with grant support from the Fund for Columbia County, a fund of the Berkshire Taconic Community Foundation.
