The Board of Trustees will hold its regular monthly board meeting at 10am on Saturday, March 16 in the library’s Community Room. At approximately 11:15am, the Annual Meeting will be held. New Board members and a slate of officers will be offered and voted on. Other business will include passage of the 2019 budget and reports by Library Director Emily Chameides and Board President Miranda Barry. Everyone is invited to attend both meetings. Light refreshments will follow the meeting.
The Board of Trustees will hold their November meeting on Monday, November 20 at 5pm at the library, replacing the regularly scheduled meeting date of Saturday, November 18. As always, the public is welcome to attend.
At the January meeting of the Board of Trustees of the library, the Final Schematic Design for the new library was approved. This followed months of work by Vincent Benic Architect, Galvan Foundation and the library. Benic gave a presentation on December 7, 2012 to the Board and representatives from the Galvan Foundation. Roger Coleman, publisher of the Hudson-Catskill Newspapers, who passed away on December 31st at the age of 61, was active in many civic and non-profit organizations, including the Hudson Area Library. Roger served as a trustee of the library from 2008 to 2011 and as Chair of the Finance Committee for most of that time. An enthusiastic backer of the library’s programs and role in the community, his was an early voice in support of the library’s move from its present location and its ultimate relocation to the Armory. His friends and colleagues on the library board, past and present, join with the rest of the Hudson community in offering condolences to his family.
The Armory Committee of the Board of Trustees of the Hudson Area Library will hold a meeting with Vincent Benic Architect on Friday December 7, 2012 at 6pm at the library. This will be a presentation by the architects of the final schematic plan for the new library at the Armory. Representatives of our development partner, The Galvan Foundation, will also attend.

The Hudson Area Library provides programs for children, teens, and adults for our library users from Hudson, Greenport and other local towns. The Board of Trustees wishes to expand our program offerings and seeks to engage people in our service area and beyond in the development of new programs. We recognize the wealth of skills and enthusiasms in our community and wish to tap into those who can bring new ideas and energy to the library.

The Board of Trustees of the Hudson Area Library is seeking volunteers to work on the Marketing Committee.
The Hudson Area Library is entering on a two year project to renovate the Armory (North Fifth and State St.) to become its new home. It is our objective to create a 21st century library that will serve as a new community hub for our library users from Hudson, Greenport, and Stockport as well as other local towns.
Marketing for the Library
To reach this objective and to create ongoing community engagement and support for the long term, the Board is seeking to significantly increase every aspect of how we communicate with library patrons, volunteers, the various communities we serve as well as other stakeholders in government and the corporate and non-profit worlds.
