We are proud to present our second series of All Things Apple, a class about using Mac computers, iPhones, iPads, and Apple Watches. This class is a four-week series meeting on Mondays, October 30, November 6, 13, 20, from 6-7pm.
In the class, instructor James Pendergrast will cover the use of iPhone, iPad, Mac computer, Apple Watch, and other Apple hardware and software products. Students will learn the basics of iPhone, iPad and Mac computer use as well as how to customize the device to work best for them; taking, editing and sharing photos on your device; utilizing iCloud services including backup and restoring data; using the Apple office products Pages, Numbers and Keynote; using the Photos program on the Mac to store, organize, and edit your photos.
It is recommended that attendees bring their devices and there will be Macbooks and iMacs available for use in the class. All levels, including beginners, are welcome. Continue reading →

After a brief introduction to computer and Internet basics, we’ll learn about how to use email. How can I use it? How do I choose what email to sign-up with? These classes are paced at a speed that is comfortable for new learners. We’ll be learning and having fun doing it!

Computer Basics Date: Saturday, June 6, 2015 Time: 10am–11:30am
This class is a Beginner Level Class. It will include: Introduction to the parts of the computer – including software & hardware – How do I use this? What is the best fit for me? We will also review how to choose a computer for purchase – What is the best fit for me? Lastly we will review Internet Connections – How to get on and where to go? (Time Permitting – Emailing/Printing)
Microsoft Word Date: Saturday, June 20, 2015 Time: 10am–11:30am
This course will focus primarily on the creation of a cover letter and resume. All participants should bring the following items to the class: resume (job history – with dates/locations), flash drive (if available). You’ll learn how to set-up a resume, what choices you have within the templates that Microsoft Word provides and how to manipulate the look of them for your own needs.
Facebook for Beginners Date: Saturday, June 27, 2015 Time: 10am–11:30am
Why all the fuss about Facebook? Facebook is one of the leading social media connections. In this course we will learn how to set-up an account and how to manage the settings in the account for privacy/use. You will also learn how to locate long-lost family/friends/etc.
The Friends of the Hudson Area Library announce a new series of free computer classes for adults starting later this month.
Beginning Saturday, October 25th, three classes will be held at the Library from 10-11:30am on Saturdays in the Computer Room on the main floor. The classes include an introduction to computer basics (October 25th), instruction for Internet and email communications (November 1st), and an introduction to Microsoft Word (November 15th).
