Program Description: The Friends of the Hudson Area Library will be hosting a Book and Bake Sale in the community room of the library. This is a great opportunity to purchase new and gently used books on a variety of subjects, including art books. There will also be homemade baked desserts for sale during this event.
Our Ghostly Gallop 5K road race, an annual highlight of the Hudson Valley and Capital Region fall running season, has been added to the USATF Adirondack Grand Prix Series, which challenges runners to compete over various distances and in differing conditions culminating with the Ghostly Gallop.
The 18th annual Ghostly Gallop, as well as a free one-mile run for youth 11 and under, will be held Sunday, October 21, beginning and ending at Hudson High School.
Registration for the race is now open and proceeds benefit the library. For more information and to register, visit the Ghostly Gallop website.
The Friends of the Hudson Area Library has been chosen by the Hannaford store on Route 82 in Livingston as the latest beneficiary of the Hannaford Helps Reusable Bag program! This means every time you purchase a Hannaford Helps Community Bag at the Livingston Hannaford store during the month of March, the Friends will receive $1 to help fulfill their mission. The bags can be found at the reusable bag rack and various registers. By purchasing these reusable bags, you’ll not only be supporting the Friends, but also helping to eliminate waste by skipping the paper/plastic bag options at checkout. Sounds like a win-win!
The 18th annual Ghostly Gallop 5K race will be held on Sunday, October 21, 2018. All proceeds benefit the Hudson Area Library.
All festivities take place at Hudson High School, 215 Harry Howard Avenue, Hudson, NY 12534. Click here to view the course map, a USATF Certified course. The Ghostly Gallop route for 2018 will be identical to the 2017 route.
The 17th Ghostly Gallop 5K is in the record books. Congratulations to over 300 runners and walkers that turned out to support our library! See official USATF results here: www.albanyrunningexchange.org.

Time for some inspiration! The organizing committee of Hudson Area Library’s Ghostly Gallop 5K will be presenting Verdigris’ Kim Bach with Bib #3 and honor her with the position of “lead walker” at this Sunday’s Ghostly Gallop.
Many of you may recognize Kim’s smile from seeing her at one of her two Verdigris shops in Catskill and Hudson. But, you may not know that she has just returned from a trek halfway across Spain ON FOOT! Continue reading →
