Visit a museum for free this summer! With your library card, you can borrow passes to the Clark Art Institute, the FASNY Museum of Firefighting, Olana State Historic Site, the Thomas Cole National Historic Site, the Columbia County Historical Society, MASS MoCA, Shaker Museum: Mount Lebanon, Destroyer Escort Historical Museum, Edna St. Vincent Millay Society at Steepletop and the Franklin D. The Friends of the Hudson Library have recently purchased a new Museum Pass for Olana State Historic Site. With a valid Mid Hudson Library card, patrons may check out a pass that will allow free admission for up to six people (a $72 value). Passes may be borrowed on a first-come, first-serve basis for a three day period. House tours are included and reservations are encouraged.
The Library will also be receiving a new museum pass for the Columbia County Historical Society. This pass admits up to four adults, seniors, or children over the age of 12. Children under the age of 12 are always free.
Free passes are also available for the Fireman’s Association of the State of NY Museum of Firefighting in Hudson and the Sterling and Francine Clark Museum in Williamstown, MA. Call the library or stop in for more information.
Hudson Area Library now owns a circulating Museum Pass for the Firemen’s Association of the State of New York Museum of Firefighting. The FASNY Museum of Firefighting is dedicated to the preservation of firefighting artifacts, such as fire engines, gear, equipment, art, photos and more. Kids can try on firefighting gear, participate in a Bucket Brigade or Parade Activity, explore the Fire Safety and Prevention Discovery Room, and so much more! The Museum Pass:

If you are planning a day trip to Williamstown, Massachusetts, stop by the Hudson Area Library to get a free pass for two adults to the Clark (children and students are always free)! Williamstown is about an hour and a half drive from Hudson.
The Sterling and Francine Clark Art Institute features European and American art in a lovely rural setting. The campus offers hiking trails with paths, picnic tables and benches to relax and enjoy views of Williamstown, the Green Mountains of Vermont, and the Taconic Range.
The Clark’s permanent collection includes works by Claude Monet, Edgar Degas and Pierre-Auguste Renoir, Winslow Homer, John Singer Sargent, Mary Cassatt, Gustav Klimt and J.M.W. Turner. In addition to the permanent collection, there are currently two special exhibitions and a special presentation of photographs:

The pass can be checked out for a one day loan period. Unless other arrangements are made with the library director, the pass can be returned the evening the day of the trip, put in the drop box or returned at the library’s opening following the day of use.
