Time for some inspiration! The organizing committee of Hudson Area Library’s Ghostly Gallop 5K will be presenting Verdigris’ Kim Bach with Bib #3 and honor her with the position of “lead walker” at this Sunday’s Ghostly Gallop.
Many of you may recognize Kim’s smile from seeing her at one of her two Verdigris shops in Catskill and Hudson. But, you may not know that she has just returned from a trek halfway across Spain ON FOOT! Continue reading →
When the first leaves drop from the trees, it’s time to begin training for the Ghostly Gallop 5K, our annual fall fundraiser. This will mark the 17th year of running (and walking) in this community-wide event.
Kylah Campeta, owner of LYF Fitness at 209 Warren Street, is assembling Team Lyf, a team of co-workers, friends and clients, to compete in this year’s Ghostly Gallop. And that’s not all. She’s also issuing a challenge. “I want to reach out to other businesses to create teams, too,” she says. “Maybe they can recruit staff members or relatives to represent their organizations,” she explains. “It’s not just about the race – even though that part is great, it’s also getting a group together to support the Library. The bigger the group, the more fun and the more our Library benefits.” The LYF Team will include about 15 members.
Beginning Friday, the price to register for the Ghostly Gallop 5K Run/Walk increases from $20 to $25. The GG5K is a FUNdraiser for the Hudson Area Library and a great community event.
The 17th annual Ghostly Gallop will be held at Hudson High School on Sunday, October 22. The Kids 1-Mile Fun Run sets off at 11am sharp followed by the 5K Run/Walk at 11:30am. The 5K course has been certified by the USA Track & Field and its entire length will be closed to traffic for the duration of the race. This year we have added a runner’s costume competition and cash prizes for top adult runners, the fastest team (up to 5 members), best costume and largest family entering in the combined events.

All festivities take place at Hudson High School, 215 Harry Howard Avenue, Hudson, NY 12534
The new 5K course has been certified for us by an official from USA Track & Field. It is relatively flat and the only busy street on the course will be closed to vehicle traffic, insuring safety for the participants. The course map can be seen on the Ghostly Gallop website. The 1-mile Fun Run is on Harry Howard Avenue which will be closed to traffic for this event.
Racing teams are welcome.
Advance registration is recommended. Race packets will be ready for pick-up at Steiner’s Sporting Goods (corner of Warren and Third) on Friday, October 23 and Saturday, October 24. We strongly recommend getting your packet in advance. Avoid lines on Sunday! We are anticipating 400 participants.
Winners will be added to the traditional roster of the William F. Cranna Memorial Cup.
