The fair will focus on social justice-themed children’s books that highlight diversity from classic children’s picture books by authors such as Eloise Greenfield and Vera B. Williams to the latest children’s authors.

This program is part of the library’s inaugural Curator-In-Residence program with Mahogany L. Browne, in celebration of the library’s 60th Anniversary and is made possible through the generous support of Club Helsinki Open Mic, The Maker, the Francis J. Greenburger Foundation, and John Knott.

Mahogany L. Browne, Curator In Residence at the Library

We are excited to announce that in celebration of the library’s 60th Anniversary, Award-winning poet, writer and organizer Mahogany L. Browne will be the inaugural Curator – In – Residence. Browne has worked closely with the library programming staff to curate special programs to take place in 2020.

In February, Mahogany L. Browne has curated poet and educator, Jive Poetic, as an instructor for the library’s signature youth program Winter Hack. Browne and featuring a performance by her, Jive Poetic, and local youth poets. This presentation of Living Poetry will be held on Friday, February 21 at 6pm and is co-sponsored by the New York State Writers Institute.

(updated 3/14) – As a precautionary measure, we will be postponing Mahogany L. Browne’s Woke Baby Book Fair, originally scheduled on Saturday, April 4, to a later date. New event date for the program is TBD.

In April, Browne will present her Woke Baby Book Fair, a multi-media, multi-disciplinary, intergenerational public program that includes storytelling, crafts, and other fun hands-on activities. More programs TBA! Stay tuned!
