Join us at Promenade Hill for a community walking tour inaugurating our new booklet Hudson: A History of Whaling & Maritime Commerce. Members of our History Room team will be on hand and we will have copies of the booklet for all participants.
This booklet utilizes the extensive research and collection of primary resources gathered for the 2025 library exhibit of the same name, and is a self-guided tour to many of the buildings and sites that represent Hudson’s beginnings and some of its most storied history. The tour begins at the land between the North and South Bay areas and includes historic homes such as the Robert Taylor, the Charles Coffey Alger, the Captain Laban Paddock, Elishu Jenkins, and the Cyrus Curtiss houses as well as the sites of early Hudson businesses such as candleworks, printing offices, the ferry service, and hotels.
Free walking tour booklets are available at the library, City Hall, Spotty Dog Books & Ale, and other Hudson businesses.
