Library of Local

The Library of Local is an initiative from Partners for Climate Action and the Mid-Hudson Library System, that offers collections of essential wisdom, know-how, and tools for local self-sufficiency and community resilience. It also provides a series of educational events and workshops all offered free of charge at local libraries across the Hudson Valley.

Our library – along with our friends at the Kingston Library, Morton Memorial Library in Rhinecliff, and the Mountain Top Library in Tannersville – helped launch the program in 2021 during its pilot year. The theme for 2021 was Sow, Grow, Reap, Repeat! Gardening and Foraging for Resilience.

Beautiful, hand built architectural displays made by Hudson Valley-based artist, Johnny Poux, house the collection of books, seeds, and tools – all available to check out with your library card. To view the collection in the library catalog, click here.
